ETTL, ETTR

Expose to the left/right, the directions referring to the left and right of a histogram.

These techniques choose exposure to capture maximum detail in the highlights (ETTL) or shadows (ETTR) rather than to produce a pictorially satisfying image. The initial image is post-processed later to make a more pleasing picture from the original.
